FAQ text
- How can I put lyrics under/above notes?
- 1) preferably enter the entire melody first.
- 2) use the arrow keys to go to the note where text should be added and type <[>
- 3) in the now visible window you can enter the desired text.
- 4) tap <Enter> to confirm text entry.
- Repeat 2-3-4 for each syllable. The entered text type is [Lyric 1]. (For [Lyric 2] you would have used <]>.
- To now place all text of the text type Songtext1 below instead of above the bar, go to [TextFormat|SongText1] and enter -9 at position (9 semitone heights below the middle of the stave.)
- I find it a hassle to first have to tap <h>, <j> etc. for each text. Couldn't that be more convenient?
- If you have to enter a lot of text in a row, it is better to select text input mode on the toolbar . All text you type from that moment on will immediately appear as text above the notes. When you're done, turn text input mode off again with .
- What should I do to make the lyrics match the notes properly?
- possibilities:
- Increase note spacing somehow, text aligns with notes.
- set [Options|Format|MinNoteSpacing] and [MaxNoteSpacing] to 200%;
- set [Options|ChangeSettings] [MinNote Spacing] to 5 and [MaxNote Spacing] to 20 in note width units; only has effect during changes on the notation bar;
- under [TextFormat] for the used text type adjust the text attributes (font with close together letters, check note-text alignment, create text size smaller);
- fewer bars per line either by recording the number of bars per line in the layout, or by using (conditional) hard line breaks;
- further options:
- use the layout template lyrics
- If under layout the setting [White after text] is greater than 0, texts of the same text type will be spaced the set amount of white space, whereby the notes will shift.
- Finally, move text and/or notes where necessary with <alt> or <alt>
- I want to put five lines of lyrics under the melody, but there are only four types of lyrics... Is there a way to create more lines?
- Yes, provided that a number of other text types such as music directions and dynamics are not used, you can also use those text types for lyrics. (the other way around is of course also possible; the text type song text can also be used for things other than song text).
- You can also slide each individual text to the desired location. To add many verse texts, it is better to use a text file 'embed'
- How do I put diaeresis and other accents on letters?
- See diacritical marks (accent, umlaut, aigu, grave, circonflex etc.)
- How can I align headers?
- In principle, MusiCAD tries to do that well itself... If MusiCAD is unable to properly align the headers, you can use the detail menu of the text you want to move: [Options|Head+Foot|**|Horizontal]. Negative values indicate a shift to the left.
- How can I place two chord symbols the length of a half note under a whole note so that MusiCAD also plays them correctly?
- Two options:
- write down 1/1 as two tied 1/2s and write down the desired chord symbol for each 1/2.
- write down two (hidden) rests of 1/2 (hidden rests with <x>) and attach a (following) note of 1/1 to the first rest of 1/2. Then add the desired chord symbol to both rests.
- Can I put a block of text (for example following verses) after the last bar?
- Yes, you can do that by embedding a text file after the last note: [Edit|Tools|Text|Text Block]
- How can I put text in front of the bar?
-
- make room in front of the bar by increasing indentation;[1]
- make the left margin smaller (5mm instead of 20mm for example);
- place the text that you want in front of the staff above the line (at the line break);
- set the position under text formatting to horizontal -20, vertical 0.
Noten:
- ↑ From version 4.2, text is also displayed outside the margins, and you can omit margins and indentation
