A keyboard file .mck is used to determine which key should correspond to which note when using the computer keyboard as MIDI-input-keyboard. This is completely separate from the hotkey assignment. For non-standard keyboards you will have to make adjustments...
Below is the standard layout for playing a computer keyboard as it would have two small manuals for MIDI input
The spacebar is set as rest input, the function keys and arrow keys keep their normal function.
